At Godspeed we treasure our children and youth, valuing each one as an image-bearer of the creator God, and valuing their role as servants of Christ. From the youngest to the oldest, we seek to disciple them in the ways of God, through teaching the Word, modeling godliness, supporting Gospel-centered parenting, and providing many ways to grow and experience service and leadership.
On Sunday mornings, we offer a nursery for babies and toddlers, and classes for children in three age groups:
- Kindergarten–2nd grade
- 3rd–5th grade
All of the nursery and Sunday school classes take place on the third floor of the church building from 10:30–11:20 on Sunday mornings, before the worship service.
(For youth from 6th–12th grade, see Youth Sunday School.)
Each child’s Sunday school class is taught by a rotation of teachers selected for that class. All of our teachers value safety, fun and seek to provide a solid Biblical education. Young people serve as helpers for the younger Sunday school classes. All teachers are required to be members of Godspeed. Each teacher is requested to attend occasional teacher's meetings hosted by Godspeed during the year. Each teacher has a helper – either an adult or a high school student. Helpers are not required to be members of Godspeed.
Cheryl A. coordinates the teaching schedules and calendar of events for the Sunday School classes. Schedules are provided to each teacher so that they can prepare lessons or exchange with other teachers in the case of schedule conflicts.
